We are currently undertaking an unprecedented network Modernisation programme across the UK. We’re investing £1.5million every day in rolling out our new 4G network and upgrading our current 2G and 3G networks. In fact, by the time we’re done in 2017, we’ve promised Ofcom that we’ll cover 98% of the UK population across all our networks (whether outdoor or indoor).
Keeping our customers connected is our priority and we always plan to do our upgrade or maintenance work as quickly and as impact-free as possible. Sometimes we might affect your signal unavoidably and if we do that we’re sorry.

Wireless network problems


This tutorial is designed to help you identify and fix problems with wired (Ethernet) and wireless (Wi-Fi) network connections in Windows. This tutorial doesn't cover network connection problems related to specific programs.
You might experience network or Internet connection issues in Windows for a number of reasons. Some common issues that can cause these problems are:
  • A wireless network adapter switch that's not enabled
  • WEP, WPA, or WPA2 security key or passphrase issues
  • Cables that aren't connected properly
  • Corrupted or incompatible drivers
  • Missing updates
  • Network connection settings
  • Hardware or software problems
    or Natural problem, wither problem.

Make sure your router is on and that you're within range.

If you're too far from your router you won't get a signal, so make sure you're within range.

Network connection problems

 Troubleshooting Internet connection problems can be a challenge because there are so many possible causes. First, try these steps:
  • Open Network Diagnostics by right-clicking the network icon in the notification area, and then clicking Diagnose and repair.
  • Make sure that all wires are connected (for example, make sure your modem is connected to a working phone jack or cable connection, either directly or through a router).
  • Reset your modem and router. Remove the power cord from the modem and/or router, wait at least 10 seconds, and then plug the modem and/or router back in.
  • Check your router. Because of the new networking features in Windows Vista, some older network routers are not fully compatible with Windows Vista and can cause problems.
If these steps don't solve the problem, look for a specific problem in the following list.
To troubleshoot a network connection problem, try these steps first:
  1. Open Network Diagnostics by right-clicking the network icon in the notification area, and then clicking Diagnose and repair.
  2. Make sure that all cables are properly connected.
  3. If you're trying to connect to another computer, make sure that computer is on and that you have enabled file and printer sharing on your network. For more information, see Networking home computers running different versions of Windows.
  4. If the problem began after you installed new software, check your connection settings to see if they have been changed.
If these steps don't solve the problem, look for a specific problem in the following table.

  • Make sure network discovery is turned on.
  • Make sure you have shared the files or printers.
  • If password protected sharing is enabled, you have two options.

  • Go to the website of your router manufacturer to download and install the latest firmware for your router.

In the Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) [RFC791] there is a field
called "Protocol" to identify the next level protocol.  This is an 8

Internet Protocol

The Internet Protocol (IP) is the main communications protocol in the Internet protocol suite for relaying datagrams across network boundaries. Its routing function enables internetworking, and important establishes the Internet.
IP, as the primary protocol in the Internet layer of the Internet protocol suite, has the task of delivering packets from the source host to the destination host solely based on the IP addresses in the packet headers. For this purpose, IP defines packet structures that encapsulate the data to be delivered. It also defines addressing methods that are used to label the datagram with source and destination information.
Historically, IP was the connectionless datagram service in the original Transmission Control Program introduced by Vint Cerf and Bob Kahn in 1974; the other being the connection-oriented.  The Internet protocol suite is therefore often referred to as TCP/IP.
